BuildBond
BuildBond is Guarantee Guild's
comprehensive 10-year structural warranty for new homes,
it is a form of cover that is technically known as
Latent Structural Defects Liability Insurance, this
cover promises to pay out in the event of repairs caused
as a result of faulty design, materials or workmanship.
BuildBond covers the risks that aren't included within the standard buildings insurance and also covers the legal fees associated with making a claim .
For the first two years the house is under warranty from the developer or manufacturer, therefore it is their responsibility to rectify and make good any defects. BuildBond itself will deal with cases where, either by default of bankruptcy, the contractor fails to put right the faults in this period and will act on the policy holder's behalf. From the third to tenth year BuildBond provides direct insurance cover.
